Fall 2014 Pantone-Inspired Color Challenge: Day 3: Royal Blue

It’s Day Three already! I hope you’ve been enjoying Pantone week as much as Heidi and I have.  I have to admit, when we were initially picking out colors, I thought today’s Royal Blue would be a no-brainer. It turns out, I don’t really have any of it except in this cardigan, which is slightly off from Pantone’s version. Even so, given the 3/4 sleeve and the brightness, I was having a surprisingly difficult time figuring out how to “autumn-ize” it. You may not be able to tell, but it was COLD when Angelica and I were taking these pictures. Normally I’d throw a cardigan over a sleeveless blouse, but that was not going to be happening this time around. It really showed me that the Pantone challenge is meant to be just that…a challenge. It encouraged me to incorporate something I would not tend to grab from my closet around this time of year. In the end, I thought I did a pretty good job making this appropriate for fall. After all, the last time I wore it, it was in the heart of summer!

By the way, you’re going to see even more of this boot + denim combo throughout the rest of the week…sorry I can’t be more creative during the first true week of COLD.
